Hot weather!

With the start of the hot weather season the horses and donkeys slowed down a bit this past week. I got there on Wednesday to find the seniors and the donkeys having "a bit of a lie-in," as the Brits like to say. As the day got hotter most of them were hanging out under their shelters. I was wishing I could do the same, but I was trying to get all the flower and garden beds watered. Even in adverse weather the chores still need to get done, so hats and suncreen are essential. :-)

Sherry and I finished building a lovely planter (which I forgot to take a picture of). Sherry had built a super-sturdy frame and we attached slab wood to the sides as the covering, which looks rustic and pretty. It was hard work in the heat but Sherry is very good at building stuff and being efficient. In the end, we were happy with our finished product and it's a nice addition to the facility.

The other fun thing I got to do was learn to use the riding lawnmower. I love driving different kinds of vehicles, like ATV's and golf carts, so I had a good time mowing the front area of the property. We were getting things ready for the big barn sale that happened this past weekend as part of the Bitterroot 50-mile garage sale. I wasn't at the sale because I was at home having my own very busy garage sale. If Wings got the amount of traffic I got in two days I bet the sale went really well!

I'll be out of town visiting my family for two weeks so stay tuned for future posts in a few weeks. Stay cool!
